International and Area Studies Student Association

The IASSA, the department's official student association, puts on a variety of events geared towards bringing together students in the six different IAS majors  Events include a Welcome Reception, Brown Bag Lunches with different professors, and lectures by campus visitors on a variety of topics.  The Alumni Mentor program pairs up volunteer alumni and students with similar interests and encourages them to meet and correspond with each other.  If you're interested in getting paired with an Alumni Mentor, email iassa@berkeley.edu. All other IASSA activities are open to any interested students, declared majors or not, and no sign up is necessary.  Membership in IASSA is automatic upon declaration of the major, but if you'd like to be added to an email announcement list, email iassa@berkeley.edu.
